Three Reasons To Choose A Catholic High School

Blog

Choosing a high school for your child can be difficult. You want to ensure they get a high-quality education, but you may also want to ensure they learn to integrate their faith into their everyday life. Catholic high schools provide teenagers with opportunities to grow in their faith as they prepare for college and the world away from their homes. If you are considering enrolling your child in a Catholic high school, here are a few of the benefits you can expect to experience as they attend their new school.

High-Quality Education

Many parents want to give their children a high-quality private education, but that goal can seem impossible due to rising education costs. Private high school tuition fees can cost almost $15,000 per student, per year. Private Catholic high school tuition fees often cost less than $10,000 per year, saving parents considerable amounts of money over the four years each of their children will be enrolled in high school. This lower cost isn't associated with lower success rates, either. Catholic schools drive students toward college degrees, and they have high graduation rates. In fact, 62 percent of Catholic high school graduates also graduate from college. Only 31 percent of students from public schools achieved the same goal.

Moral Role Models

Teachers, school administrators, and older students all provide role models for children as they go through school. Virtually every child spends at least eight hours a day at school, and they spend that time developing their world view as they gain an education and prepare for college. While you can't control who your child looks up to, you can surround them with people who you think would be good examples for them. In a Catholic high school, students are surrounded by religious individuals who care about them and their success, so they can thrive and develop positive relationships with faith and good moral principles as they grow and learn about the world.

Close-Knit Community

Being a parent isn't easy. If you feel isolated or out of touch with your faith, you could benefit from enrolling your children in a Catholic high school. Just as your children becomes part of their school community, you can also become part of the community as a parent. As you attend school events, participate in parent-teacher association activities, or just chat with other parents as you wait for your child after school, you can create new friendships within your faith. You may be able to ask for and share advice about parenting difficult teenagers or handling faith-related concerns. Your child's Catholic high school community can be your community, too.
